Most of the time, I wake up looking like I’ve been pulled through a hedge backwards, it’s not the most attractive sight! My hair and I have a difficult relationship, I love it, (when it behaves!) but dealing with the frizz is an utter nightmare. So here are my top tips on how to maintain thick and curly locks!

#1 Use a diffuser – Using a diffuser to dry my hair massively improves my frizz. It helps keep my hair curly, but without the poof!

#2 Products – My favourite product to tame my hair, which I also mentioned in my Beauty Favourites post which I will link here, is the John Frieda frizz-ease serum. I apply it after towel drying my hair and leave it for 10 minutes or so before drying, it’s a lifesaver!

#3 Leaving your hair to dry naturally – I always find that the heat from hairdryers makes my hair even more frizzy, which is why I leave my hair to dry naturally for about 15-20 minutes before blowdrying it. I find this helps to reduce the frizz and leave my hair a little bit neater.

#4 Combing – When I apply conditioner to my hair and I’ve left it in for 10 minutes or so, I use a thin-toothed comb which detangles my hair, removes knots and removes any loose hairs. I find that combing my hair whilst it’s wet helps reduce the breakage that occurs when I brush my hair whilst it’s dry (which I don’t do at all anymore).

#5 Hair masks – I recommend using a hair mask once a week to restore moisture, this helps especially when the weather is colder.
